Dream Con 2024: Almost Perfect with a 9/10

Dream Con 2024 was in session from the 26th through the 28th of July at the Austin Convention Centre and marked a meeting place for people to engage with the best of their times via anime, games, and pop culture. This year’s convention, created by RDCWorld, was a solid product of good changes and refinements that deservedly got an overall rating of 9 out of 10.

The Austin Convention Center was the perfect place for Dream Con 2024. Its ample halls hosted a great number of activities, from anime screenings and gaming tournaments to cosplay contests and art showcases. By all accounts, the flow in and out of the convention was markedly improved this year; thanks are due to the hard work of our staff and volunteers.
It was well organized and easily accessible, contributing to a significant portion of the event’s smooth operation, where the attendees could easily navigate themselves through the various panels, workshops, and the bustling vendor hall.

Event Schedule: 7.5

Dream Con 2024 offered a diverse array of panels and workshops that catered to all interests. The event’s major highlights included discussions led by popular YouTube personalities like Afro Senju, Berleezy, and King Vader, who captivated the audience with their insights and experiences. This year, King Vader premiered his first original live-action anime and hosted the Film Fest, adding an exciting new dimension to the convention. While the schedule was well-organized, it did result in some overlap, leaving attendees wishing they could participate in more activities.

Special Guests & Vendors: 9

The lineup of special guests was nothing short of impressive, really big names within the community. Attendees were excited to see popular personalities like Nadji Jeter, Khleo Thomas, and KevOnStage come through with their individual uniqueness and charm. Similarly, the vendor hall was lively; thus, it granted helpful sales and content creation opportunities. Vendors said that they were, really kept busy with a lot of movement in sales owing to the active participation from attendees.

Wait Times: 7.5

Significant last year waiting times were a huge problem. Long waiting lines were, however, significantly shortened with the development from Dream Con 2024. Efficient entry procedures cut up the long wait times of attendees and made it easier to enter upon arrival. All with a premium badge had experienced significantly shorter wait times since the system operated just like a Fast Pass at Six Flags. It allowed them quicker access to various events and activities.
Wait times dropped, and although there was still much that could be done to reduce wait times even further, it was a significant win.

Vibe : 10

The atmosphere at Dream Con 2024 was nothing short of electric. It gave off a sense of community, where everyone came from many different walks of life but shared their passions in one place. The ability for special guests and vendors to be open with each other and con-goers was refreshing and really led to some great, spontaneous moments.
Influencers such as Caleb City and King Vader, along with commentators like Afro Senju and Curtis Jones, were part of these spontaneous interactions and memorable experiences. This is what created a collaborative environment that really did give off an all-inclusive kind of vibe, making everyone feel like they belonged.
Maybe one of the best moments at the convention was the comedy show with KevOnStage. Such a tremendous success, with non-stop laughter and great performances from Roxxy Haze and Mo Lowery—all of which further added a vibe to the schedule for an event already heavily loaded.

A special shout-out goes to Critics of Culture creator Chris Miles, who rose to the occasion in a big way. Originally, the highly anticipated guest Carl Jones—known for his pivotal work on The Boondocks and Black Dynamite—was scheduled to attend Dream Con. Unfortunately, due to personal matters, Carl was unable to make it, leaving a noticeable void in the event’s lineup.

However, Chris Miles seamlessly stepped into that role, filling the space with grace and professionalism. As a key representative of Martian Blueberry, Chris ensured the studio’s presence was still felt by attendees, offering engaging insights during the panels originally planned for Carl. His thoughtful commentary on storytelling, diversity in animation, and the future of creative media reflected the ethos that Carl Jones champions.

Despite the initial disappointment over Carl’s absence, Chris’s participation turned out to be a bright highlight. Attendees walked away impressed by the depth of his knowledge and the value he brought to the discussions, proving that Martian Blueberry’s mission to push creative boundaries is in good hands. Chris didn’t just show up—he delivered, leaving an impact that will resonate far beyond Dream Con 2024.

Final Thoughts

Dream Con 2024 was a memorable event—one that would not be easily forgotten by those in attendance. As stated, from both sides of the event—the organizers and participants—there was a degree of dedication and hard work put in, and this gave the convention success in all dimensions. It truly was the proper concoction for fun, learning, and community mingling to any anime, gaming, or pop culture fanatic.

With all this going on with the star-studded lineup, efficient logistics, and the extraordinary atmosphere, it sets in as an event to be marked off for future conventions. Blerd’s 5th Anniversary Celebration We also celebrated our 5-year anniversary with an incredible party in collaboration with LAN Party. Brought together by BLK Dating, Sony Music Japan, and Lion Forge Entertainment, it was a night to remember. With all that came great music, awesome activities, and another tremendous occasion to build community and have fun.
